  4. *Coachella Couture*

    by Kate

Although I am now officially a Californian, I will sadly not be in attendance at Coachella this year.  (Currently wiping away the tears.) But my sadness is heavily outweighed by the fashion that accompanies this major music festival. There is such a specific Coachella style that I absolutely love and every year oodles and oodles of celebrities buy into the Coachella Couture!

This rocker/hippie/half-naked look is sometimes hard to pull off, but every year Harper’s Bazaar reports on how to shop the Coachella looks. Check it out HERE!  The first week of Coachella attracted the best of the best: Vanessa Hudgens, Katy Perry, Nina Dobrev, Fergie and Rihanna. My favorite has to be Nina, its simple and understated, yet refreshing and free. Let me tell you, there is no wrong way to dress Coachella style, so all of you Weekend 2 goers, stop pulling out your hair trying to decide what to bring, just go with cool, casual and maybe a but quirky!

  5. *Recipe of the Week*

    by Kate

I love the weekends because I have more time to cook, I mean really cook. I make dinner every night during the week, but its either something quick or something easy.  This past weekend I made homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli. This recipe does not require many ingredients and it is sure to impress your next dinner guest.

You will need 1 package of frozen spinach, 1 medium container of part-skim ricotta cheese, 1 package of wonton paper, egg whites, garlic cloves, salt and pepper. Wonton paper can be found in refrigerated section where other Asian food elements are sold. If you can’t find them, don’t be afraid to ask, most groceries stores will have them.

First, combine the spinach, ricotta cheese and chopped garlic in a food processor. Season generously with salt and pepper. Process the mixture on high for about 5-7 minutes, this will allow the filling to be nice and creamy. Give it a little taste and add anything you thing it needs, maybe a little more spinach or a touch more salt. Next, after the spinach-ricotta mixture is completely together you are ready to start filling. Place the wonton papers out on a flat surface and pour about a half cup of egg whites into a bowl.Start by painting the outside edges of each paper square with egg whites. This will allow the top paper to stick to the bottom, enclosing the filling. Then place about a spoonful of the spinach-ricotta mixture on to the center of the wonton paper. Make sure not too much, you need the edges of the top paper to meet. Then place a wonton paper on top, pressing together the outside edges. Let them stand for a few minutes and you’re done. When you’re ready add the ravioli to a pot of boiling water for about 4 minutes and serve with your favorite sauce.
    Finally, ENJOY!!!

  6. *Puppy News*

    April 18, 2012 by Kate

    How cute is this photo?

‘The Hunger Games’ star, Josh Hutcherson, has just adopted an adorable pit bull puppy named Driver. If Hutcherson can handle the Hunger Games’ arena, he can definitely handle the chewing and the potty training.

You can see the rising star is his next film, ‘Red Dawn’, where he co-stars with his ‘Hunger Games’ pal, Liam Hemsworth’s older brother, Chris. The film follows a group of teenagers who have to save their hometown from an invasion of North Korean soldiers. Make sure to catch this later this year on November 2.

But, most importantly, Josh Hutcherson will reprise his role as Peeta Mellark in the second installment of ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise, ‘Catching Fire’.

Hutcherson better start Driver’s puppy training now, because I think this dog’s future is full of movie sets and press tours!

  7. *Movie Trailer*

    by Kate

Everyone knows one of my favorite past times is watching movie trailers over and over and over again. A well cut trailer can make or break a movie. After watching the trailer for ‘Looper’ about 50 times, I thought I would share it with you all.

The film stars Hollywood heavy-weights Joseph Gordon-Levitt, from ’50/50′, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Inception’, Emily Blunt, most recently seen in ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ and in the upcoming ‘The Five Year Engagement’, and Bruce Willis, whose name needs no credentials.

Take a look at this amazing trailer:

Crazy right?!? Time travel, assassins, and pretty much everything bad-ass. ‘Looper’ hits theaters in September.

  8. *Twit Pic Of The Week*

    April 13, 2012 by Kate

As another week comes to a close and my unhealthy obsession with Twitter grows, I have once again picked my favorite Twitter picture of the week! Let me tell you, there were some great options, as always.

This week’s picture comes from Shiri Appleby, who of course is from my favorite show of all time, ‘Roswell’. You may recognize her from last year’s short-lived series on the CW, ‘Life Unexpected’. Recently Appleby has moved with the technology times and is starring in the online series,  ‘Dating Rules from my Future Self’, where her character gets dating advice from herself 10 years in the future via texts.

Seems like Appleby is applying a little bit of herself to her character as she is always tweeting and this week she shared my favorite picture with the caption, “Saturday Night Kill Shot”!

I don’t know about you, but I wish I was there. All those sweets look AMAZING. Plus, I want to know how they got this over-head angle, the kill shot indeed (in more ways than one)! Make sure to follow Shiri Appleby on Twitter at @shiriappleby and check in again next week for another Twit Pic of the Week!
